– The City of Kingston engaged 1:1 Architects to carry out full architectural services for the refurbishment and fit out of Washington Drive Kindergarten in Oakleigh South as part of the 2017-18 Children’s Facilities Capital Program.

– The proposal included an expanded learning space, a new undercover porch, a new accessible toilet and office, renovation to the children’s bathroom and kitchen, and a general refurbishment of the existing
building.

– The plan is economical and efficient, while the design features a unified palette of materials and colours, offset with playful features such as hut-shaped seating alcoves internally that create rhythm and interest in the façade.

– The new porch is dignified in its design and creates a generous undercover area to the front entry accessed by new steps and ramp.
