–Through the state funded, Building Better Schools Today (BBST) program, 1:1 Architects were commissioned to refurbish 3 regional Primary Schools out from Bendigo; Tarnagulla (refer to images), Inglewood and Elmore Primary School. The key BBST objectives are to:

  • Provide open teaching and learning areas where staff can work as a learning team observing a range of teaching methods and styles;
  • Provide spaces that enable staff and students to work in flexible groupings;
  • Provide positive and stimulating learning environments that support and encourage students to learn;
  • Provide a staff preparation area to remove teacher’s desks from G.P.C.’s and enable small focus teaching area;
  • Create seamless indoor outdoor teaching spaces to promote different learning styles and provide visual connection to the school surrounds;
  • Provide additional toilets in main school building to minimise losses in learning time and improve safety for students;
  • Provide central, purpose built storage to promote staff and students using a wide variety of teaching resources;
  • Improve use of new technology for teaching and learning by spreading the computer access around the learning areas rather than having one designated pocket; and
  • Create spaces that are effective to heat and cool and that employ energy efficiency principles.
