Camberwell Fresh Food Market
APPROX. BUDGET:
$1.5 Million
STATUS:
Completed February 2015 (Stage One)
-This was a major internal refurbishment of the Camberwell Fresh Food Market which included redesigning the facades of all tenancies, rearranging the layout to create an open fruit and veg hall with a central food court, redesigning market entries, creating new public amenties and redoing the floor to make the market fully accessible.
-The design creates a pleasant and vibrant market ambiance whilst maintaining familiarity for the existing loyal customer base of this family-friendly community hub.
-Colours and materials take their cue from the market’s mosaic logo and original stained glass windows. Shop fronts receive a mix of traditional patterned and fl oral tiles in varying shades against a white tile base, with insets of warm ply and pale grey walls, to evoke a cosy, cheerful and lively vibe which is welcoming to all parts of the Camberwell community.
-A timber slat bulkhead ties the market together and is a background for new signage and lighting.
-At the entries, bright pressed metal feature ceilings and haphazard fl uorescent tube lighting welcome in passers by and establish the market’s identity.
