–This renovation project involved the full demolition of an existing fit-out at Level 4 of Building 21 to house new offices for RMIT’s Legal and Audit & Risk Departments, previously located in Building 105.

–Although grouped on one level, each department was granted two separate zones with shared common facilities (kitchenette and toilets). Within the working areas a combination of individual and open plan offices have been provided with varying degrees of privacy depending on the user’s needs.

–Due to the presence of two separate users, a neutral palette of materials was employed to suit all areas. Dark grey and charcoal carpet tiles with whites walls and ceilings have been warmed by feature timber elements in the main corridor and American Oak doors throughout. A controlled amount of colour is introduced by the new furniture with hints of soft blues enlivening the space.

–An improvement to the energy efficiency was made by adding new double glazed windows and installing a new air-conditioning system. These upgrades, along with the manually controlled blinds, provides users with maximum control of their working environment.
